VIM LIGHTING LED high bay is conservative in all claims made on its products and is confident that high lumen product delivers exceptional quality and uniformity of light in a manner that never fails to impress our clients.
The reflector is used to harvest wayward light and redirects this light to the floor. This results in the luminaire being around 60% efficient. The LED high bay directs 100% of light produced to the floor. Hence the LED replacement does not need to reach the lumen output levels of the older technology to be a viable replacement.
However, it is evident from these calculations that a LED high bay must be capable of producing around 20,000 Lumens to be a true one-for-one replacement for a 400 Watt Metal Halide.
A lower output LED high bay would require a greater quantity of units installed to meet critical lighting standards, so it is strongly advised to research this aspect if contemplating a transition to LED High bay lighting
